  • Electrical Assessor Services for Colleges & Training Centres

For colleges · Training centres · Employers · Electrical learners

Need additional electrical assessment capacity, a clear portfolio plan or structured feedback for your learners? SJB Electrical Training offers assessor support for Level 2 and Level 3 electrical programmes, with the qualification, units and assessment arrangements agreed with your centre before work begins.

Electrical assessment support that fits your programme

Good assessment starts with understanding what the learner must demonstrate, which evidence is needed and who is responsible for each decision. We work with colleges, independent training providers and employers to agree a manageable assessment plan, support practical observations and give learners clear feedback on their next steps.

Whether you need short-term assessor cover or planned support across a cohort, tell us your awarding organisation, qualification number, units, learner numbers and location. We will confirm the appropriate assessor, scope, availability and quotation.

    For colleges and training centres

Discuss freelance or associate electrical assessor support for peak periods, staff absence or planned delivery. The agreed brief can include assessment planning, practical observations, professional discussions, evidence review and written feedback, using your centre’s approved processes and assessment records.

    For employers

Help employees organise evidence from their work and coordinate suitable assessment opportunities with their training provider. We can discuss workplace visits and progress reviews, subject to site arrangements and the qualification’s evidence requirements.

    For students and adult learners

If you are looking for an electrical NVQ assessor or portfolio support, start by telling us which qualification you are taking and which centre you are registered with. We can help clarify evidence gaps and discuss a suitable support route. Formal assessment must be agreed with your registered centre; purchasing support does not transfer your registration or guarantee a pass.

Steve Bishop — Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA).

Steve Bishop — Level 3 CAVA assessor

Steve has achieved the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA). He brings 30 years of experience across training, marketing and project management to learner communication, planning and support at SJB Electrical Training. Electrical assessment assignments are matched to the relevant qualification requirements and verified occupational expertise.

Peter Fotherby — over 20 years of assessing experience

Peter holds the Level 3 CAVA qualification and a Level 7 qualification. He brings over 20 years of assessing experience, alongside his electrical-safety and aeronautical ground lighting teaching background. Together, Steve and Peter provide a practical, approachable starting point for centres looking to discuss electrical assessment support.

What can an assessment assignment include?

    1. Plan the evidence

Agree the units, assessment criteria, learner starting points and evidence already available. Identify suitable workplace or workshop activities, any gaps, and a realistic review schedule.

    2. Observe, discuss and review

Use the assessment methods permitted by the qualification. These may include observing practical work, reviewing work products, questioning and professional discussion. Remote reviews are used only where the centre and qualification rules allow them; they do not automatically replace required workplace observations.

    3. Give clear feedback and record progress

Record assessment outcomes against the criteria and explain what further evidence is needed. Agree next steps with the learner and centre, and provide records for the centre’s internal quality assurance process.

Level 2, Level 3 and electrical NVQ assessment: what is the difference?

The level describes the qualification, but it does not by itself determine how assessment must be carried out. A college-based electrical diploma and a workplace competence qualification can have different requirements. For example, the City & Guilds 2357 learner logbook describes planning evidence from the real working environment with an assessor.

CAVA is an assessment qualification, not a blanket authorisation to assess every electrical course. The appointed assessor must also meet the occupational competence, current knowledge and other requirements for the particular qualification. Your centre retains responsibility for its approval, registration and quality assurance arrangements.

This service is separate from AM2, AM2S and other NET assessments, which must follow NET’s approved-centre arrangements. SJB does not present this service as an AM2 booking service, independent end-point assessment approval or a substitute for qualification registration.

    How to book assessor support

Send your brief. Include the qualification title and number, awarding organisation, units, number of learners, delivery location, dates and the support required. Individual learners should include their current training provider.

Agree the fit. We review scope, assessor suitability, centre onboarding and evidence requirements with you. For centre assignments, qualifications, occupational experience, CPD and any required safeguarding arrangements are checked as part of that process.

Confirm the assignment. We agree the work, fees, travel arrangements, records and timetable before booking. Ask about a single assignment, cohort support or recurring assessor days. Prices are quoted against the agreed scope.

    Frequently asked questions

Can we book an assessor for Level 2 or Level 3 electrical courses?

Yes, you can enquire about support for either level. Please provide the exact qualification and units so we can confirm assessor suitability and your centre’s requirements before accepting the work.

Can SJB help with my electrical NVQ portfolio?

We can discuss evidence planning and portfolio guidance. If you need formal assessment, the arrangements must be agreed with your registered centre and follow the qualification’s assessment rules. Bring your existing assessment plan so support builds on it.

    Can assessment be done online?

Some discussions and evidence reviews may be suitable for remote delivery. Practical or workplace observations must meet the specific qualification requirements; we confirm the permitted approach with the centre.

Does this include IQA or awarding-body approval?

No. Internal quality assurance and awarding-body approval are separate responsibilities. This page offers assessor support and learner guidance, with each assignment agreed through the relevant centre.

    Do you guarantee a pass?

No. Decisions depend on the evidence meeting the assessment criteria. Learners receive clear feedback and agreed next steps where further work is needed.

    Build knowledge alongside assessment

Our Fast-Track Foundation learning can support underpinning knowledge, while SJB electrical training courses offer role-focused development.
